Using Task Flow diagrams to sort out navigation, way-finding and labels

Ontologies, taxonomies, wayfinding, conditional logic, and the four paradigms of search form the bedrock of interaction design. Mapping and visualizing complex logic flows is one of my core strengths—an area where AI consistently falls short. These artifacts remain, in my view, among the most undervalued and misunderstood deliverables in UX.

Scenario 1

First use: acquiring a Vehicle Passport

There are several ways to acquire a vehicle passport. Another user can push a vehicle passport to you or new passports can be created manually. In this scenario and task flow diagram we take a look at how a vehicle passport is passed from dealer agent to retail customer.

Scenario 2

Using the Vehicle Passport to streamline the trade-in experience involving a dealership

In Scenario 2, we assume the Vehicle Passport app has kept up with the vehicle’s dynamic and static attributes during Nick’s ownership. Nick is now ready to trade his vehicle in for something more off-road. Nick uses the Vehicle Passport app to kick-start the sales cycle.

Listing a vehicle for sale on Amazon or other direct peer-to-peer network using Bluetooth Low Energy Mesh

User’s wishing to sell direct can list their vehicle on a variety of marketplaces including Amazon and the Vehicle Passports’ own buy/sell platform.
